we can research this together i read that something needs to travel 11.186 km per second to escape earth's pull (from wikipedia) so someone go find how much muscle it takes to throw a rock 11.186 km/s?
i checked, and assuming the rock is around 1 pound, it'd take roughly 2.5 million pounds of pure muscle to generate the needed energy (28.4 megajoules), and thats not even accounting for atmospheric drag :( so unless i somehow get to the moon i think my dreams of throwing a rock on an escape trajectory are gone
