I'll drop my ""controversial take"" onto this one: fundamentally good and evil people don't exist. Yeah no shit a horrifically bigoted dictator did 'good' things occasionally, because he was also just a human like the rest of us. There are violent murderers who love dogs and cats. There are predators who do great things for their community. There are abusive people who make wonderful art.
Nobody is immune to committing abusive or cruel acts, and trying to force a barrier between The Normal Goods (us) and The Fucked Up Evil Mustache-Twirling Bads (them) means you are not only refusing to examine your own capacity for evil, but downplaying the horrific acts of others because "they did good things too." And that's pretty scary, because widespread mindsets like that are how dictators like Hitler rise to power.
