I’m not sure how much making the grizzly bear smaller has an effect on its effectiveness, so this question ends up being, “would you rather fight 3 grizzly bears or a kangaroo?”

It's about their mass, less impact. They smash you only in the second go, but you also have more chance of "pushing"/"kicking" them away.

This sounds very sensible and is probably correct, but it does nothing for the feels of fighting 3 grizzly bears.
