But that's why I asked whether people were comfortable with replies or not. They are kinda the norm on most platforms, but because char social is new, I wanted to know what the etiquette was regarding comments. Out of the 13 people that voted, it seems most are okay with them. Maybe charsocial can implement a feature where when we post, we get to choose if we want to disable replies OR in the meanwhile we can just create a new hashtag called no-replies or something just to let people know that the poster isn't looking for any replies, because as much as I love commenting on people's post and interacting with them, I'd hate to make someone uncomfortable or make them feel unwelcomed on this platform.

This is a really good idea, I feel like the tagging system is very underutilized. It would require a few conventions to be accepted by our most active users, namely which tags mean what, which is kinda “rules” adjacent. So I could see some potential pushback.

Tho this would also help with other problems, for example, I’ve been thinking that a few established tagging conventions would also be a good answer to the ongoing NSFWposting debate. All that to say, it would be pretty neat tho if we started having things like that as a community!

yoooooo i’m so sorry if that made you feel called out, that was entirely not my intention. i just Had An Idea And My Brain Told Me To Act Upon It Immediately. but yeah the tags thing is a pretty good idea. i have seen moots on tumblr add in their post tags if they’re just venting or something similar. would be easy enough to tag stuff here in a similar way. you don’t even need a system for it per se, just as long as it’s clear to the reader that you’re not keen on replies. could be with a tag, could be a line just saying “venting, pls don’t comment” or whatever.

I didnt feel called out in a bad way, just acknowledged... which is actually a pretty good thing, so dw about it. Im glad i was able to become a part of a discussion on here that seems to have made people more comfortable and sure of what they want this platform to be about. Also your idea to poll for people's opinion was quite helpful!
