You being denied access to get lab-made hormones developed by pharmaceutical corporations to artificially alter your body sounds very cyberpunk to me.
Cyberpunk is not only robo dicks and cyberwires. The cyberpunk body mods are already here, attached to us but externally: we have computing powerhouses in our pockets, algorithms that know us better than our family or close ones do, smartwatches and rings as biomonitors, earbuds with live translation, shoes with step counters. The list goes on.
We already have corporate rule, tech-driven inequality, massively intrusive surveillance, data businesses, cyberspace aka the internet, eco-decay, megacities, AI being used everywhere and in everything, and a rising substance abuse issue in every country in the world.
We're already living the cyberpunk future. And it's worse than we imagined.
