I didn’t know how much the assumption that god is evil was buried deep within my subconscious.

Shortly before I left Islam, the assumption was very apparent to me because I knew that if I were to continue being Muslim I would be serving an evil god.

But I never ever considered the idea that there could be a good creator.

I grew up in a Christian cult and since leaving and living my life as I can ive come to believe that people are the gods we want to worship. everyone wants something to believe in, some higher power looking out for us with good intentions. however,people are truly the wonders. Humans go so far for one another. Human love and compassion is God. and human greed and selfishness is the devil. we all are God and the devil at once. some people let their devil take over and become evil, most people live a neutral and nuanced life, and sometimes the god in us inspires us to take actions we wouldn't for others. Love is God. That mother protecting her kids at risk of her life has become God for a moment. That child helping another kid who fell down has become God for a moment. The man lifting a car beyond what his physical strength should allow has become God for a moment. That girl feeding the homeless has become God for a moment. That aunt watching her nieces and nephews so that their mother can go to work is God.

Wow. Yes. This.

This is what I also believe.

But for me I connect it to the concept of entropy. Entropy is basically just the thing that happens to things if no one does anything. Everything has a tendency to decay, break apart and become this inert homogeneous mass.

Everytime we do something good, we are fighting entropy, even for yourself. Every time you eat, you are literally reversing your own internal decay, your own entropy. Every time you help feed someone else, you’re doing the same.

In fact, because we are social species, going to visit a friend helps reverse their own internal entropy. Giving them a compliment does the same.

Also all the heroic acts you mentioned do the same and all evil acts hasten the decay.

I see fighting entropy as a kind of spiritual duty. It’s not just humans doing it either. All life does in some way.

Also, when the universe was created, it was created in the lowest entropy state possible, this tells me the creator (be it a conscious agent or not) must have meant well.

It’s actually kinda wild. I’ve been obsessed with the idea of what pain is for a long time and I’ve come to realise that it is literally just entropy.

Pain, the feeling has like 4 layers. The first 3 are not really unpleasant. They are, the nociceptive signal (that feeling of pain), a feeling of exhaustion and your pre-frontal cortex focussing on the pain.

The nociceptive signal can be pleasant or painful, so that feeling of pain isn’t really “painful”. The thing that makes it painful is your mind’s response to it, which is the scrambling of your minds, the panic.

Long story shortish, the panic is just your brain being unsure of how to respond. Different parts of you have different opinions, this results in random-like behaviour and is thus like entropy.

I grew up Christian. But I realized that with everything happening in the world there could only be two options:
1) God is not kind, God is not good, God is not just
2) there is no God
And I chose the second option. Because the first one was too sad.

You chose it also because you are a deeply good person.

Some people realise this, they must do, and think that it’s safer to serve an evil god, than to stand against it and suffer the consequences.

It’s a shame because if you think about it for even a second, you’ll realise that you can never make an evil god happy with you.
