I find this 'punch a nazi' narrative to be annoying and, quite frankly, harmful. A lot of woke peoole label others as nazis if they don't chew up the same narrative as them and that's not cool (not all, but a good chunk of them) and often these so called wokes actually end up clowning themselves and exposing themselves as being the real nazis. For example, there was some trans chick a few years ago who got a two year prison sentence for throwing tomato soup at a Pollock painting (IIRC) and many were outraged, claiming the sentence is draconian and saying no real damage was done besides some soup damaging the frame. I expressed my opinion on some forums, saying it's a fair sentence and that, in my opinion, it should've been harsher and so many people bashed me for having a different opinion. They proceeded to call me a nazi and a bigot for that. Frankly, I fear for the future. If these woke monkeys are to become revolutionaries then we're gonna be just as fucked as we are now with leaders like Putin and Trump.
Humans create things, and humans can take them down. History shows we've struggled with human rights and resources since the dawn of time, and we'll continue to do so until the end of time. The key thing to know is you're not powerless. As the quote goes:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, itβs the only thing that ever has." -mod
the internet will misunderstand you every step of the way. go back to your loved ones. stop watching those videos telling you that everything you ever do up to and including breathing is wrong just do your best
Henry Nowak's murder has been exploited by racists despite his family begging them not to.
Beside the murderer, Vickrum Digwa, the police didn't take seriously Nowak's repeated plea "I've been stabbed." We can't speculate whether paramedics could have arrived in time to save Nowak, but the police's callous dismissal of his claim does suggest that they couldn't be arsed to deal with the situation properly.
For this reason, it seems justified for anger to be directed towards the police. But there remains the question of what exactly should change in _policing_ on the whole to reduce the frequency of people dying when hastier action could save them.
I hope you're good, just sharing some friendly advice...
---- get used to trying more things.
as an adult it becomes clear that almost everyone only gets anywhere w a healthy amount of self-motivation.
join clubs, go to events, & if none interest you, start your own. Promote it, but be prepared for people you don't like to come along.
Whatever happens it will improve your social skills.
Even if nobody comes to your event, you were going to be spending that time on that thing anyway, so keep doing it.
---- skate parks & music venues are good, so are sports, theatre & youth music groups.
i once hosted a jam night that only 2 ppl came to, a drunk guy & his v autistic gf. Neither played an instrument, but we did a sorta live karaoke; they requested songs, i played whatever i could figure out & they... sang (?!??) it was a decent time in the end.
---- keep trying. find new excuses to chat to people, and keep the vibes up. Simple humour is more universal than anything else.
i'm a white english guy - most of my first employers were old white english guys, several of them underpaid me and two didn't pay me for multiple days work. I usually bring this up when racist white brits throw around their prejudices about other nationalities.
However, I once worked for a small moldovan-owned company. the boss paid me less than the minimum wage, put me in dangerous situations, and was generally disrespectful. Two other moldovans later told me they would never work for another moldovan (;_;)
A nigerian friend stopped me from messaging a west african guy selling a van on fb marketplace. He saw the guy's name and put his hand on my phone and said "don't be stupid bro".
I guess a lot of people can see what happens when decent people only address bad things politely. There comes a point where fighting has to actually mean fighting, or else everyone loses once again.
