i'd say i am an antitheist in a sense that i think the world would be a better place if we abandoned all the religions altogether. I would advocate people to get out them voluntarily of course. However, if a government places a restriction on believes, i'd definitely protest alongside those theists for such basic human right. For me, coercing people into atheism is as wrong as into any religion, so i'm not pro jurisditional atheism like some are out there
interesting
most people i see who are antithesis seem to think all religion is inherently harmful, which doesn't make sense to me (being someone religious who does nor impose my beliefs on others), that's what I was trying to ask about with my otiginal post

because religions:
·oppose people of different views
·slow down societal and technological progress
·often interfere in law and politics
·follow ancient social norms
·'just believe it bro'
·used for societal control
·sometimes justify immoral acts
·most major ones were made thousands of years ago so they have an outdated understanding of the world
·religious censorship
·neglect of modern medicine
·I know we can't explain the whole world rationally but you don't have to
·fundamentalism
this is not an exhaustive list. Although, some of the points aren't that strong or don't apply to all religions, I think they outweigh the 'sense of belonging' and the so called 'meaning of life'

oops completely forgot to reply to this
i think most of these are far from inherent, and it's very possible to follow a religion while still being morally upright
given morality is subjective I don't think that (in theory, in practice things will be muddier) this is really an argument that can be made without subscribing to some sort of base morality (which i think is somewhat like a religion in its own right)
I don't think religion necessarily tries to explain everything rationally, but, at least in my experience, rational explanations are a much nicer thing to believe in than just "this is how it is"
given it's still very possible to be religious without being a terrible person, I don't think there's harm in believing for the sake of finding a purpose or believing in some deeper meaning of life, especially if that's something the person wants
